Seagate GoFlex External USB 2TB
Hi guys, I've got a NasDuo running RAIDiator : 4.1.7 and am trying to back the data up to an external Seagate GoFlex External USB 2TB. So far I've changed the drive so that it does not sleep to avoid any wake-up issues and formated to EXT3 via the nas (small partition first)
Current Nas Configuration: X-RAID (Expandable RAID), 2 disks
Seagate ST31000528AS [931 GB]
Seagate ST31000520AS [931 GB]
671 GB (72%) of 925 GB used
Status: Redundant
Backup Device Seagate GoFlex External USB 2TB
Reading a size of 203 GB with 203 GB used EXT3
I'm getting the following error when trying to do the initial backup...
Error encountered copying data from source path ===>USB_HDD_3/ due to lack of disk space.
How can this be and when will the data not fit on the drive? Any thoughts as I could do with getting the data copied over soon.
Thanks,
Devs ;)

- devs1AspirantAny thoughts on this one guys? I've performed a volume scan and checked and fixed quotas without any errors..
I've also noticed that front view is running very slow could this indicate something?
Thanks in advance. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you format the drive using a Mac?
If so reformat the disk using MBR partitioning. - devs1Aspiranthi there I did (a one stage) format the drive on a mac. The last I recall doing was creating a partition so that I could then format via EXT3 on the nas as the drive is 2tb in size.
How do I reformat the disk using MBR partitioning? Is this via the Nas?
Many thanks! :) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhen you format the disk using Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility) on a Mac, the MBR (Master Boot Record) partitioning scheme can be selected under options. Then connect the disk to the NAS again and format it to use EXT3.
- devs1AspirantPerfect, many thanks for the help. The backup is underway!
I'll hopefully be able to sleep tonight ;) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredGood.
The NV+ (v1) does not support GPT partitioning, hence the 2TB limit on capacity of the drives you can use internally/externally. If a disk less than 2TB in capacity is formatted to use GPT partitioning this will still cause problems, so the simple solution is to reformat them to use the older MBR partitioning scheme that is compatible. - devs1AspirantVery helpful! ;)
