This also has happened to me. Not clear to me if there is some dependency on installation of the latest squeezebox software as well.
The removal of the user names did enable me to recover the share. When I did reboot, I did not see the user names return and the share disappear, however I did not reboot with the fsck (check file system option.
Agreed, this is a nasty bug that should be fixed very quickly. QA on firmware seems deficient. Makes me want to read release notes very closely before taking any updates for firmware again. This does not lead to user confidence.
