You are totally wrong on that. You can absolutely do it.

Try closing all windows connections to the NAS and then opening a command box (e.g., enter "cmd" in the search bar under the windows icon).
Then enter
net use * /delete
net use t: \\nasname\C /user:admin adminpassword
Portions in italics are placeholders.
That should map the C volume to a t drive letter.
There are other ways (including entering the NAS credentials into the windows credential manager).
