Slow speeds caused by GS108T?

What version of firmware are you using? Mine is:

I've also disabled flow control on all ports. I am consistently achieving NAS-to-NAS transfers via NFS at 80+ MB/s.

Maybe i should try and update the firmware...

I observed that it is only in the start of the file transfer i get speeds of 20-25Mb/sec

Are you using Jumbo Frames? For some reason, I always got better performance on my NV+ with JF disabled, where as on my Pro, I get better performance.

dbott did you ever get sustained writes to your NV (or NV+) to 20~30mb/sec?

I remember having a long thread a while back with you about NFS and transfer speeds and still to this day im saddened by my more transfer speeds. Not to mention that I've just added 6TB to another machine and need to copy from the machine to the NAS...


It seems my "hiccupping" up/down writes to the NAS never went awway... and for me, Jumbo Frames helped compared to not. Why can't we all just hit the same sweet spot?


And how the heck did you get 80mb+ from NAS to NAS??? I thought it was rated at only 40ish, and you could only get it to ~30?

Using NFS, I could get sustained reads in the the 30-35 MB/s range on my NV+ using Ubuntu (writes were slower, but still 15 MB/s). My laptop (which runs Windows) only has a 10/100 NIC, so I've never really been able to do a good CIFS/SMB test.

From my Pro to a different NAS (not the NV+).

UPDATE: I recall seeing this post yesterday: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=26918&p=149926#p149926. I would disable any security software and see if there's a similar problem.

I did read something about this new version (15) of RAIDiator to have options for changing the # of nfsd processes running. Supposedly in small user environments setting it to 1 is acceptable and can help speeds by about 200%.

I'll be waiting for this release to come out and then move on from there. Hopefully NFS worries are alleviated for some of us with this update!

Im not using Jumbo frames. I uninstalled nod32 but that didnt help :(

Currently I am setting this up to see if I can replicate the read transfer issue. Write appears to be ok. I will update with my findings. :o
