Apps.. no one
Services? i have installed nothing, the sistem is just out of the box.
At the beginning, i've updated to firmware 6.4.2, as asked at the first run, then, a few days ago, to release 6.6.1, the latest one to see if there has been improvements
I used for a couple of months the application ISTAT, but removed because not so usefull for me.. anyway the situation hasn't changed, disk 2 is not spinning down: you can see the situation in the log, where disk 2 is NEVER mentioned, (but enabled). I can also see the access time to the disk on the nas: after the setting timeout (already tried different vakues), disk 1 need an X time before be able to access to, the time the disk spin up,(and in the mean time you can herar the disk spining up), while disk 2 is ALWAYS immediately available...

Still no solution for this problem, it's incredible.
Netgear used to be a champion, but now, really, problems with my nas, problems with my D7000..
things should not go this way.
Anyway, some other infos, might be useful for technics area:
Swapped the disks, sda to sdb and viceversa, reduced the spin down time to 5 minutes, and now the spin down seems to work, but not completely. What i can see from the log, and by the disk access time, is that after a while, variable time, the disk restart.... i'm absolutely sure that no one access the NAS, so there is no reason to spun up the drive, unless is the NAS itself writing something to the disks.
I really need this function, i do not want to shut down / power on the unit by needings, what i really need is something allowing me to save disks and energy while the sistem is not in use.

Hi LucianoBrentana,
Can you please send the logs? I will seek assistance on checking it further.
How do I send all logs to ReadyNAS Community moderators?

Hallo dr FramerV
thanks for your interest, logs has been sent.
In the meantime, may be something is going right...
i followed the solution posted here:
and, if i do not understand why that is working.... it's working.
Commenting the line
#/usr/bin/rnutil rn_lcd -s "$MSG" -p 1 -e $DURATION -k 478
in both /etc/noflushd/spindown.sh and spinup.sh did the trick.
Hdds now both spin down, and even if they do not stay completely off, at least they stay for some hours....
regards, Luciano
