SSH access and Email alerts issues?

1. does not tell me how to actually enable SSH support so I can actually get into my ReadyNas
2. is just a really bad work-around for a system malfunctioning in my opinion. 'Being spammed? don't fix the sender, filter out the spam'... Why isn't Netgear addressing this issue?
