This is a converted 4.2.x NAS, and the stock 1GB of RAM is often not enough for OS-6. That's a problem that's been reported by other users. The error on the LCD is a crash, and the most likely cause is an out-of-memory condition.
While the manual doesn't address that topic, it is certainly something that Yoda3647 will find useful.

I made a mistake. It a ReadyNAS Ultra 6, no plus.
Can ReadyNAS Ultra 6 Plus update to the OS 6 by the steps above?

Both the Ultra6 and Ultra6Plus can be updated to OS6 using that procedure. It is advisable that you first upgrade RAM to at least 2GB, as some users have reported problems (starting with OS6.10) when only the stock 1GB of those units is installed.
