(Still) Can't connect via AFP

Ok, so I think this is now solved.
I could connect to the server via AFP by:
1. going Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server
2. inputting the server address (afp://192.168.xx.xx)
3. Selecting "connect as guest" on the resulting dialogue box.
This mounted the share under the "devices" header in the Finder sidebar, and then eventually the share appeared under the "Shared" header in the Finder sidebar (as AFP).
However, it was still not visible under the Time Machine configuration, despite having Time Machine enabled. To fix that, I had to reconnect as the username and password specified in the Time Machine tab of ReadyNAS frontview.
So it seems to be a permissions issue. I have no idea why the previously working configuration stopped reconnecting suddenly, but I guess it's all back now.
