RAID is not a backup, and it is risky to trust your data to a single device. RAID volumes sometimes fail, and NAS can malfunction in a variety of other ways that can compromise your data.

Why I need a second back up?
So everything "should" be restored once you replace the disk, but "should" is an important qualifier. There are other possibilities for loss in the bigger picture (user error, fire, theft, and the like). So I recommend backing up to a different device (and personally I also back up to a cloud service for disaster recovery).
