Timemachine and dual Ethernet interfaces
OS version 6.4.2, OS X 10.11.3 (El Cap).
This ReadyNAS has two ethernet interfaces, which I had connected unbonded to the network.
All of the Macs on the network would attach and update the sparsebundle on the ReadyNAS for a while (say two days) and then each machine would start complaining that the destination did not exist. One solution would be to reboot the NAS and things would work for a while.
How I solved this is to simply unplug one of the NAS's ethernet ports and run on only one interface.
I would guess that there is a conflict in the NAS with Bonjour or other discovery services and some confusion as to which interface gets presented to the network. This seems to change with time.
I might eventually get a switch that supports bonding, but for now I'd like to be able to run both interfaces if possible ( I did pay for them after all)
Hi rawb1,
With regard to using multiple NICs or ethernet adapters in your ReadyNAS system, here are some helpful NETGEAR articles you can look at.
ReadyNAS OS 6: Configure Bonded Adapters
ReadyNAS - What bonding/teaming mode should I use?
Hope this helps!

Having two NICs with different I.P.s in the same address range is not recommeneded. There are teaming methods you can use that don't require a switch that supports and is configured to use 802.3ad LACP which you could possibly use till you get a switch that supports 802.3ad LACP. Or you could run on just the one NIC as you found worked for you.

My main recommendation is to leave teaming off, unless you often have multiple simultaneous users. Teaming doesn't improve single-user speeds.
If you have enough users to benefit from it, and don't have switch support for LACP, then try ALB.
