Timestamp backup from ReadyNAS to Windows share issues

Dear all,

Unfortunately since (as it seems) an upgrade to RAIDiator 4.1.9 the weekly backup schedule is not working anymore. Within readyNAS Frontview there has been for several years a backup 'batch' been active to backup documents from the NAS to a Windows share on a local pc running Windows Vista.

The sharing of the share on the Windows server has not been changed, and has been checked and found to be in order. The Readynas backup is set up as such that it will log in via a specific made user for only these backup jobs. The work group of the WIndows PC and ReadyNAS has changed to see if that would solve the issue.

The later upgrade to RAIDiator 4.1.10 also did not make any difference. When looking at a backup job, step 1 has the share on the NAS mentioned. Step 2 has the WIndows/NAS timestamp option selected host name, path, user and password filled in. Testing the connection from here gives 'connection errors'.

The backup log failures messages just state 'Unable to access remote path'.

The only thing changed after the update to 4.1.9 was that from the same pc I was unable to access the shares on the Readynas. When I changed the access paths to the various shared on the ReadyNAS into IP address this worked again.

Manually copying files from NAS to local drive on the Vista machine works fine.

After a lot of trying it seems I did not make any progress on this irritating matter. Hope that anyone can assist here, as I am about to start tearing my hairs out.

Kind regards, Jeroen

Have you tried with the IP address of the Vista computer? As that seemed to fix if the other way around.
  • sorry for my late reply (was travelling). Strangely that did not the trick making the backups from the NAS to the Vista pc.

I should also add, that firmware of the Readynas has been reinstalled with the latest versions on a few occasions, but unfortunately that also did not do the trick :(
