Trying to Resurrect an old ReadyNAS Duo

This is turning into one of life's little mysteries!
When I wrote the post items 5) and 6) on the list wer accurate.

Having left it overnight it now reports:
Volume C: Online, X-RAID, Single disk, 0% of 145 GB used Last night it was reporting 0% of 0 GB
It seems I can now also create shares and access them from File Explorer.
Has a second, silent, format taken place? The first by the ReadyNAS OS and the second by Windows?
Any tips on finding and appliying the firmware upgrade?

I have an old ReadyNAS Duo that I am trying to resurrect.
I have gone through the setup procedure and the status is as follows:
1) I can ping its IP address.
2) It reports its host name (NAS-08-FD-30) and its MAC address to the Router.
3) It is visible in File Explorer but only as a device, no volumes or folders are listed.
4) RAIDar cannot detect it, attempted from two PCs.
5) The HDD has been formatted as part of the initial setup and is correctly identified. 6) It reports as having 0MB free and will not accept a valid share name.
7) See file attached for Details of firmware etc.
I suspect that I need RAIDar to proceed, I am using RAIDar_6.5.0.exe to detect the ReadyNAS

You don't need RAIDar at all unless you are wanting to use flexraid.
What disk(s) are you using? The NAS is limited to 2 TB.
BTW, your NAS only supports SMB1, so you'll need to enable that in "turn windows features on and off" to access the NAS with file explorer. You'd do that by entering \\192.168.1.191 into the file explorer address bar. Make sure you use the correct slash.
FWIW, current firmware is 4.1.16, not 4.1.7.

Disks > 2 TB will cause an overflow in the arithmetic, and you will end up with a very small volume.

There is a check for updates feature, but you probably will need to click through a registration nag (just click "later" if you get that). The screen shot below is from a Pro 6, but the UI is the same in the Duo.
You can also download the zip from here: https://kb.netgear.com/000038792/RAIDiator-Version-4-1-16-Sparc
Extract the firmware from the zip, and then you can use the "local" tab above to manually install the firmware.
