I have been thru the board, installed the latest updates for Ready DNLA and still get this message on my log when i try to Archive. I also have the latest TIVo update and that may be causing the problem. Not sure.
[2012/05/20 16:58:24] tivo_utils.c:732: error: Cannot archive "Gladiator - 2012-03-11", due to copy protection

- ReadySECUREApprenticeMy money is on the TiVo also, the error is telling us right at the beginning that it is a TiVo utility error.
- linheathAspirantok. Is there some way to deal with this?
- jfedorAspiranthas this been resolved yet? I'm looking into buying this but I don't want to if its not going to work with my TIVOs. I have a premier and a TIVO HD
- alexofindyAspirantKeep in mind that the Tivo is rigorous about enforcing copy protection. If a show has the "record once" flag set by your cable company, the Tivo will not let you archive it to another device, whether the other device is another Tivo, a PC running Tivo desktop (or third party Tivo compatible software), or a readynas.
The use of the "record once" flag by cable companies is very variable; local TV shows rebroadcast by your cable company should never have the flag set, these shows should always archive to your Readynas, if set as KUID (keep until I delete) on the Tivo. Most premium cable channels like HBO will almost always have the the "record once" flag set, and will therefore not archive to the readynas. For other shows, which are typically the vast majority of shows you get on cable, it varies all over the place, by both cable vendor and geographic locale. The same cable company may set the flag for most shows in one area, but not in another.
One way to see if the flag is set is to simply log in to the Tivo. YOu can do this with either Tivo Desktop on a PC, or with a number of free- or shareware Tivo programs. Or, you can simply use an off the shelf web browser. Simply enter https://#.#.#.# as the URL, where #.#.#.# is your Tivo's IP address on your home network. If you don't know what this is (it was probably assigned by your home router using DHCP) you can get it from your Tivo, on a Tivo Premieve with the HD menus turned on, it's under settings and messages => settings => network and phone. Be sure to use https and not simply http in the URL, and similarly just entering the ip address in your browser won't work either.
YOu should be prompted for a login, the login user is "tivo" and the password is your tivo's media access key, the same one you should have entered into your readynas when you configured the tivo service. In any case, you can get this 10-digit number from the Tivo, it's under settings and messages => account and system info => media access key
Once you've successfully logged in to your Tivo, you should see a list of folders and programs. Find the program of interest (Gladiator in your example) and see if it says "protected" in the right hand column.
If it does, the Tivo won't let it download or be copied. Period.
As an aside, it is my understanding that this is why Tivo has introduced streaming between Tivo's. If you own two Tivo's (with the requisite Tivo subscriptions for both) you can stream (and therefore watch) a protected program from one Tivo to another, but not copy it. I only have one tivo, so I hve no personal experience with this.
