Unable to access to home folder through SBM

Using ReadyNAS 2304.

When I set a user, ReadyNAS create a home folder for this user, but the home folder can not be accessed through SMB but AFP.

From windows 10 PC, we can access the file server, and can see the home folder, but when I double click this home folder, a dialogue shows up and asking credential info, and never be permitted.

From Mac OS X, we can access home folder through AFP and in that case finder shows the home folder's name as "user's name's home", and I can access to this home folder with no problem.

When I try to access the server through SMB from Mac OS X, as same as PC I can access the file server itself, and can see home folder which named as user's name, but when I double click the home folder, a dialogue shows up and it says "The original item of "home folder" cannot be found, and can not be completed the process"

So in both of the way Mac and PC, we can not access to home folder through SMB.
Of course, I enabled both protocol of SMB and AFP on NAS setting and Home folder setting.

I've tried several SMB3 setting, but I couldn't solve this problem.

Please let me have your idea solving this problem.

Thank you.

  • In addition, when I create new share which is enabled SMB and AFP, we can access this shared folder without problem from both of PC and Mac.

The issue occure only on home folders.

What firmware is running on the NAS?

Is this happening with every home folder, or just with some of them?

      Do you have ssh enabled?

        Thank you for your reply.

        The firmware is 6.9.3.

Our LAN has only 2 PCs and 3 Macs, but all of them have same behaviour.

I disabled ssh. Is it needed to be enabled?
