Unable to Enable Rsync or HTTP Access

Thank you for trying to help me out. I was trying in all of the following browsers:
FF v31
Chrome v36
IE 9
All browsers were experiencing the same issue. However, I managed to solve the strange issue. Following the end of the work day yesterday I simply rebooted the NAS. This morning I tried to disable the rsync protocol which issued the same message "error stopping rsync service" and then re-enabled it which starts successfully. I was then able to enable rsync on all necessary shares which no longer produced the error message of shares being added with default permissions! Very strange issue, but the box had been up for at least several months...
