Unknowingly Formatted or erased drive

I just purchased the ReadyNAS NV+ yesterday. I bought a 2T Drive to go with my existing but full 2T Drive. I put the drives in. Empy drive in the first slot and Full drive in the second slot. Started the thing up and it said it was syncing. it appears to have synced the empty drive onto the full drive or maybe formatted them both. I don't know because i didn't choose to do any of it. Is the default setting for the NAS to replicate drive one onto drive 2? How do I get may data back?
Thanks

  • all raid devices will wipe any disk thats added/inserted to the array, you can not use disks with data and keep the data.

unfortunately, you most likely lost all data on your drive, as the syncronization process overwrites any existing data.

yes, you can switch to 'flex-raid' mode, however you still can NOT keep any existing data. Any disks put in to the raid drive bays will be erased and formatted for use for the raid device.

If you have drives with existing data that you must keep, you must connect via usb (use a external usb drive case or docking station).
  • Is there any chance i can recover the data being that the drive that my good drive was synced from is and was blank?
What file structure does the NAS format disks to?
