Updating the firmware for ReadyNAS DUO v1
When I try to update the firmware from the System/Update, I get this error message back:
Error connecting to remote server
I'm running Windows 7 Homw Edition and Chrome fully updated.
Why can't I update the OS ?

- NhellieVirtuosoDo you have static IP assigned on your NAS? Check your gateway and DNS settings.

Yeah, I have a static IP on my ReadyNAS DUO.
What should I check for in my gateway and the DNS settings ? - NhellieVirtuosoYour gateway should be your router's IP, for the DNS make sure it is the one supplied by your ISP or use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Also the subnet mask needs to be correct.Nhellie wrote: Your gateway should be your router's IP, for the DNS make sure it is the one supplied by your ISP or use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
For almost all home networks it is 255.255.255.0. You can check it using a PC that uses DHCP.
Or better still - change the v1 IP address to automatic, and reserve it in your router to the value you want. - ksor1Aspirant

My submasj IS 255.255.255.0 in the ReadyNAS DUO.
How can I "reserve" a specific IP-address to the ReadyNAS DUO in my gateway - is that what you are saying I should do ? - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Yes,that is what I am suggesting.ksor wrote: How can I "reserve" a specific IP-address to the ReadyNAS DUO in my gateway - is that what you are saying I should do ?
Most routers support this, what model do you have? - ksor1Aspirant

My router is a D-Link DIR-615 and it's working as my DHCP server.
EDIT:
I found the "reserve" option and inserted 192.168.1.99 for my NASdisk and I'll try to restart it ! - StephenBGuru - Experienced Userpage 31 here: ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DIR-615/R ... .40_EN.PDF
- ksor1AspirantI re-booted the router but still the message
"error connecting to the server"
when trying to update teh OS for the ReadyNAS DUO - vandermerweMasterHave you set the gateway and the DNS settings on the duo?
The gateway must be the router IP address and the DNS settings (as mentioned before) should be those of your ISP or the Google ones.
