Upgrading RN Ultra FV 4 to OS6.2
In this post http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=389083#p389083 I found an update procedure:
- Download and install R4toR6_Prep_Addon.bin (26 KB) (upload before modified IMG, don't reboot, avoids the need for manual factory default in between)
- Download pre modified IMG, (see link above to see what has been modified)
- Upgrade firmware in Frontview 4.2 (with above file)
Is this still the way to go? There isn't a pinned topic "upgrading legacy x86 to OS6", and info seems distibuted over multiple topics.

- Gave it a try recently: After performing the stepts above I ended up with OS6.2.3.
- mdgm has updated his link in the thread to 6.2.3 beta, but not changed the text label by the looks of it. If you don't want to risk running "Beta" firmware on top of "legacy" hardware (talk about double jeopardy, lol), then you can downgrade to the standard 6.2.2 OS6 release without issue.
- Didn't even know I was running a beta. Running stable atm, don't see a need to risk that with another change. Only home usage anyway, so as long as my pictures are on a mirrored raid I'm satisfied. Playing around with the OS6 and its new features is fun though :).
- With the improvements in 6.2.3 beta if you are going to run something unsupported on your device you may as well run that.
