Upgrading Sparc ReadyNAS Duo to ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus
Hi,
I have an old duo with a couple of ST31500341AS inside. I decided to updgrad and have a ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus on the way in the post. I may have poor searching skills but I didnt find anything like the steps I need to follow to get the disks and all their content into their new home.
Is the raid format the same? In which case can I just add them to the new unit and switch on?
Or do I have to move one disk, format that, synchonize from one readynas to the other somehow (guessing their is a better option than windows explorer?!) then move the second disk over and let the unit reformat it and mirror across?
Cheers

- dunkymoleAspirantI should add, current configuration from the control panel reads: "X-RAID (Expandable RAID), 2 disks"
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe RAID format is different. You could use a Frontview backup job to transfer the data.
Take a look at http://www.rnasguide.com/2010/08/23/unofficial-guide-for-moving-from-sparc-readynas-to-x86-readynas/ - dunkymoleAspirantYour guide looks perfect. Thannks
- vtxriderTutorI have the same issue but am upgrading from a Duo V1 to a NV+ V2. Actually the easiest and fastest way I found was to hook up the NV+ with 2 drives, drag-n-drop all of my folders from the Duo, when done just remove the 2 drives from the Duo and expand the NV+ to 4 drives with them.
