UPS with NV+ V2 and Duo

I have an NV+ V2 running 5.3.5 and an original Duo V1 running 4.1.9

Both recogonise the UPS (APC UPS ES700) when it's plugged in, both the RAIDiator software have different options for the UPS Power settings.

1) I can't find any options to control what to do with the UPS on the NV+ V2
2) If plugged into the NV+ V2 I can't get the Duo to monitor it on the "Remote IP Address" in the UPS options (not sure what value it's expecting, both NAS are on fixed IPs)
3) When plugged into the Duo V1, and I put the NV+ V2 IP address into the "Hosts allowed access" the NV+ V2 doesn't show any monitoring.

Can I have both these NAS boxes setup using one UPS?

Cheers.

There has been a request for the network support on the UPS within the Duo/NV+ V2 line. I will update the request to see if we are able have the feature soon.
  • I don't know if you have sorted this yet, but I have the same two NAS units, and an APC Back UPS CS 650. I have this setup successfully working.
The UPS is plugged into the NV+ V2. On the System. Settings, Power options I have checked "Enable network monitoring of attached UPS".
In the "Hosts allowed access" field I added the IP address of the Duo followed by /32, i.e. nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/32
I only found this out by accident when it wouldn't work and I tried using the Duo to monitor the UPS. The Duo added the /32 automatically, so I tried it with the NV+ V2. If you hover over the question mark by the word UPS on the power options it tells you the device is NOT monitoring a UPS - they have got this back to front by the seem of it.
On the Duo, System, Power, UPS Configuration, check "Enable monitoring of UPS physically attached to a remote ReadyNAS" and add JUST the IP address of the NV+ V2 in the field. When you hit the Apply button it will verify communication with the NV+ V2 with the message "Successfully connected to remote UPS server".
Now you should be able to see UPS status on the Status, Health page of the Duo, and on the System, Info page of the NV+ V2.
After I set this up I was unfortunate enough to have five separate 2-3 hour power cuts over three days, and a 9-hour power cut from 3pm on Christmas Day (hooray  ). Every time it happened, both Nas boxes shut down gracefully after about 20 minutes.
    Hope this helps [someone].
  • Yes, you are my hero!
I have a NV+ v1 and a NV+ v2. The UPS is attached to v2 due to the situation that v2 is always on and v1 powers up for backup.
Unfortunately, I was not able to get the ups to work for both. Now, I am on. Thanks.

BTW, my Citrix XenServer monitors the NV+ v2 aswell. I allowed a network by using a network subnetmask /24.

    Cheers,
    Martin
