echeng - it is always best to open a new discussion even though your situation might have the same symptoms although the cause is in most cases different. In your case you tagged a problem with an unresponsive NAS onto a discussion about external drives.
When you open your own discussion, when you enter the subject line put the case number at the end so any wandering Jedi can see it. Also in your post give us information about what firmware version you are running (if you recall) and what brand and models of drives you have installed. Also let us know about the status of your backup, is it current and complete. The more information you put in your post, the fewer questions we will have to ask or guess about.
