Hello Simon_01,
Welcome to the community!
I apologize but the warranty will only be given to the registered owner of the unit who purchased the product from authorized a reseller. Pre-owned/2nd hand units do not have warranty as they are considered as refurbished units.
NETGEAR does not sell any internal components of ReadyNAS chassis not only that it will void the warranty of the product but also it is beyond support of NETGEAR. If you want to open the NAS and replace its components, there maybe a chance from members of the community to answer you here but it may take a while.

Hey,
thanks for your replies. Too bad there is no possibility for buying a new board. Still, debian is running on it like a charm with 4gigs of memory and a USB3 1gig ethernet adapter I have solid throughputs even on crappy protocols like samba (for multicore-processors with a lower gigahertz per core anyways).
On how to run windows: I swapped in my win 10 ssd into slot 4, went into the bios, switched of usb 0 (the linux startup disk) and made slot 4 the first boot device, sure enough windows booted up like a champ.
Thank you guys for your support anyways, since I am not an owner who is entitled to support afterall it means a lot that you cared about my problem here anyways.
