Hi DaveB-1
Welcome to the Community!
If your RN314 is just a couple of years old and you purchased it brand new, You may want to contact NETGEAR Support since x86 NAS (RN300 up) has 5 year Chassis Hardware Warranty. See ReadyNAS Warranty.
It does seem that there might be issues on the PSU/Chassis of your NAS. What firmware is installed? Have you tried booting without the drives?
If you plan on replacing your NAS, I would suggest going with another x86 unit such as the RN424 or better. See ReadyNAS models. There are no spare parts available, buying a refurbished/2nd hand unit might do.
Yes, you can plug in your disks from your RN314 unit to another OS 6 Unit and that should boot normally.
You may also want to try and recover your data by using 3rd party Apps like ReClaiMe or if you are comfortable with Linux. I would still advised replacing your RN314 or at least try to check it's warranty with Support.
Hope this helps!
