I'm now thinking my problem is not Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security or the Windows firewall. With Windows firewall off, connection to mapped drive was lost after about 10 minutes. Turned of TM Titanium, connection was immediately restored. However, 10 minutes later it dropped again. That is, I lost the connection with both the firewall and TM Titanium turned off.
I think next I am going to try using Windows 7 (with TM Titanium installed) and XP (with AVG installed) computers to manage the NAS, to see if they have the same problem or not. If they both have the same behavior, I'll focus on the network, the router and the NAS. If they don't I'm going to assume it is a Vista OS issue, and proceed from there.
