307499008 /var/lib/clamav/main.cld
124184576 /var/lib/clamav/daily.cld
66729984 /var/backups/current_os.img
My main.cld file is smaller, but still pretty large.
daily.cld and current_os.img are about the same size as yours.
So perhaps your problem isn't in /var.
Can you do
cd //
df . -h
and post the result?

Generally speaking, I use the following procedure:
To be able to look "under" mountpoints, mount-bind the root volume to /mnt:
mount --bind / /mnt
Then look inside it:
cd /mnt du -d1 -h
It will tell you which is the biggest folder, then cd into it and re-run:
cd <big_folder> du -d1 -h
Repeat the operation until there is no more big folder, only the total is big, which means it's big file(s) in the current directory, then:
ls -lhS
When you're finished cleaning up the big files, unmount the temporary bind:
cd umount /mnt
It's probably wise to check if the partition is currently full before starting all this, as StephenB suggested.
