Wake-On-LAN: Anybody Got It Working?

I applied a Bios update and behavior has changed.
Namely, sending a magic packet will wake it up as long as it was turned off via FrontView | System | Shutdown.
But if it has been turned off via FrontView | System | Power | Power Timer or by pressing the box's front power switch (the one with the blue light...) none of the three magic-packet utilities I have tested can make it wake up.
The primary reason I would want to wake it up would be during the wee hours of the morning when it has shut itself down per the Power schedule and has not turned itself back on yet.
Power outages, seems like it's OK bc it auto-boots when power is restored after (figuratively) having had the plug pulled.
Is it just me?
