Windows 10 does not see ReadyNas via Network Discovery?
Hello,
I have a ReadyNAS 312 with 6.4.2 Firmware.
All my Windows XP and Windows 7 machines can see the ReadyNAS just fine if you go into Windows Explorer -> Network (it'll browse the network and you'll see the ReadyNAS). The ReadyNAS will show up in several different places in Windows 7. For example, the actual NAS shows up in "computers", then as a media device, and under Storage. (Of course, if you click under Storage, it takes you to the web interface). If you double-click on the ReadyNAS that shows up under Computer, you see all the shares available.
But Windows 10 just will not find/see the ReadyNAS. Now, if you magically happen to know the name \\server\share, then you can map a drive to the share, without a problem.
Windows 10 is setup as Private network (vs. Public). I've tested with the Firewall on/off (no difference). I googled and found many, different issues with Windows 10 networking not seeing things. A few mentioned something about SMB v1/v2 support, NetBIOS, etc. One article even went so far as to say that MS removed the ability to connect to any "guest" shares?
I looked in the ReadyNAS web Admin but didn't see anything to tell me what version of SMB it's running or what advertising protocols (CIFS = SMB over NetBIOS I believe, v1?).
I couldn't find anything specific to Windows 10 and the ReadyNAS unit I'm running, so maybe someone has some ideas (before I resort to taking a Wireshark trace and trying to figure out what's going on).
I'm leaning towards the SMB version, because I have another server (Linux) that's got some stuff presented via CIFS (SMB v1 over NetBIOS I believe) and the Windows 10 machines wont' see it either.

6.5 adds WS-Discovery, so you might want to wait for that (or perhaps just try 6.5.0 RC2).
You can also add NAS shares as "network locations" to the main file explorer window, and then they should show up persistently. Right click in the "network locations" area and you should see an option to add a network location.
