Wipe all data

Hi all,

I've been having endless hassles with my ReadyNAS duo and have now reached a point where all data has been remove the NAS and am now looking at how to best reset everything on the device. There is nothing on the disks and I don't want the config or the corrupt DLNA database.

What is the best way to go about this?

Thanks,
BM

You can do a factory default via System > Update > Factory Default in Frontview. This will wipe all data, settings, everything.
  • I have done that already but it has not wiped everything off as the old DB for DLNA still remains which is one of the main problems. I know this device has mechanical problems and Netgear are willing to replace it under warranty but I will damned if I am to pay $120 from my pocket to ship it to Netgear Australia on the east coast where I am on the west coast. They are just tight a$$ buggers for expecting me to pay for shipping on a warranty item.

Might have to look at cracking the OS and reinstalling the OS
  • Factory default would erase everything, including DLNA DB. Are you removing HDDs when doing this? All data is stored on the disks, so they need to be in the system during the factory default.
  • Drives are left inside otherwise the 'erase all' feature won't work.

The problem being is that, factory default is NOT erasing everything and the DB remains and two old shares have not been removed

A factory default if it works will erase everything as chirpa mentioned. Check your PM
  • I downgraded the RAIDiator version. Wiped it clean through ssh, then updated RAIDiator, then reset factory which logged me out of SSH and closed all the ports etc
logged into interface and reset factory again and finally all the crap is gone :-)

thanks to all who have helped and to Netgear for the crappy product

Btw there is a newer version of ReadyDLNA in 4.1.11 beta than what is included in previous firmware.
