Wrong username / password on Ready Nas Duo v2
Since I am a grown up, I am not supposed to barge in to this forum and just yell that this product is crap. I really can't say that before I have managed to actually login to it, can I? Have to...
- Mar 21, 2012The password on DUO v2 is password, it is not netgear1.

Hello together
A long long time ago.......
I use/used a ReadyNas Duo V2.
In the last two years I didn't use it, and it was disconnected in the shelf.
Now I want to get some data from it, but I can't get it running.
It won'T accept my password.
Ok, I thought maybe I rember a wrong password and I did a reset on the unit to get it back to factory password.
-pressing and holding the reset button
-clicking the power button
-releasing the reset button after 5 sec
but still, It won't accept the user "admin" with "password"
any ideas?
I know its a old product, but it was absolutley sufficient for my needs.
best regards
Roland

Let's start by confirming the model.
The Duo v2
- runs 5.3.x firmware
- says "Duo v2" on the front panel
The original Duo (called v1 here)
- runs 4.1.x firmware
- says "Duo" on the front panel
- has other labels that might have a v2 on them (and which should be ignored).
You are using the reset procedure for the Duo v1. The procedure for the v2 is on page 17 here:
If you actually have a v1, then you are using the wrong default password (which is netgear1 for that model).
Either way, you will run into an SSL protocol error when you try to access the NAS admin ui. That's because your NAS has no support for TLS 1.2 - and browsers started requiring that earlier this year. The easiest way to get access is to use firefox, as it has a setting to allow TLS 1.1. You need to set security.tls.version.min to 1 (browse to about:config and search for the setting).
Other methods require confirmation of the NAS model, as the options for the v1 are different than the v2.
