New GS308 switch will not give internet and assigns a weird ip. is this for internet or just network

The new GS308 switch will not give internet access and assigns a weird IP address.

 

Is this for internet or just network PC?

 

The purpose of the switch is to give more ports to connect more devices to the Internet right?

 

I connected a new GS308 from working NETGEAR WiFi router to switch then the device to the switch and there is no internet.

 

I cannot see the switch connected to the network and the switch gives out a weird IP address to the device.

 

There are no labels on the ports of the switch so I guess I can use any port to connect to the switch (I tried the 1st port).

 

Am I connecting it wrong?

 

My set up works fine without the switch.
