Currently had ongoing long discussions via Netgear Support over the fact I cannot use the Nighthawk app with my D7800 Nighthawk 4S AC2600 Wifi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router.
Support here has been very drawn out, as I am currently using VDSL, but needed to boost my signal for external security cameras outside the home, so am using the above router with Orbi to ensure I get 100% wifi. Due to the fact Orbi is cable, I am using both my VDSL router/Orbi, and have been moving devices from the router to the Orbi for Wifi, but its hard to see which devices are still linked to the router Wifi and which are using Orbi (Even with Attached Devices).
Ticket was raised and I was told to use the Nighthawk App, however this fails to recognise my router, eventually I was told to reapply the firmware so it was detected, but then a response to my ticket today, has advised me that this Nighthawk Model is not compatible with the App, and to get this raised as a suggestion.
This is the response I got in my ticket
"The Nighthawk App doesn't support D7800 or any Netgear DSL Modem/Router as of this time. I deeply apologize."
It would seem this is needs to be sorted, since the router is a Nighthawk Model, but yet the app is of no use, to me, especially when I was advised to download it several times and use this to monitor and modify my routers configuration, plus for any changes.

I am well aware of the list of current routers that are supported by the app
It was a Netgear support agent who requested that I should raise this ticket in the community so that this router can be added to the list that the app supports.

You don't "raise tickets" in the community. That is what confused me.
You have also posted in the section given over to "Idea Exchange For Home". I can't see what your idea might be.
I fear that the support person managed to mislead you.
If you want Netgear to add support for that device in the the Nighthawk app, good luck. That is what the Netgear App is for.
Netgear has just about given up on DSL modems and modem/routers.The D7800 is now five years old.
Support by apps depends on firmware. Any firmware updates for DSL devices are limited to security issues and have never been high in the agenda.
There are many Nighthawk devices that you cannot control with the Nighthawk app.

it would seem that the support agent has indeed misled me as this was the link they posted to me to post my request.
My Internet is accessed by VDSL and this router was recommended to me and bought new in the last 6 months, I was not aware it was 5 year old model.
I realise I could use a cable modem my internet / phone provider does not have decent cabling where I live to offer higher speeds than VDSL unless I pay for Cable
The link to this section was originally passed to me by them, however they have now offered to contact me for a support telephone call to see if they can assist further

This really is not the place to continue this sort of discussion.
This is a user-to-user forum that supports people with problems and offers a place to out forward ideas for Netgear. We now seem to be beyond that stage
You cannot use a cable modem router unless you have a cable Internet service.
Cable modems are even more limited than DSL modem routers. ISPs do not allow anyone to update firmware for cable modems except in a few cases.
