Please implement the OpenVPN client in Orbi. I would like to use a VPN connection without having to configure a VPN client on every device. There are multiple devices that benefit from a VPN but do not have VPN capabilities themselves, such as game consoles (Xbox, Playstation) and smart tvs (e.g. Roku, LG webOS).
The OpenVPN client feature has been added to XR500 Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router and for PureVPN on Nighthawk X4S in R7800 Firmware Version 1.0.2.46. OpenVPN client support would be preferable, as I use a VPN that is not PureVPN. Please add the OpenVPN client support to Orbi too.

Please add this functionality. Very useful, should be standard

Yes I would like the ability to have the vpn client at the Orbi router. Like others I was lead to believe that Orbi supported vpn client but that believe was dashed after purchase. If you do not implement at least state no vpn client in your advertising. Thank you.

I would like to cast my vote to bump this

I need client-mode openVPN to simplify VPN support for my home network and to give outgoing VPN coverage to several of my devices that can't work with it directly as a client but can operate normally if they are tunneled through by my router. I want to see this on the Orbi because I'm having issues with my current router and its function with my recently received Arlo Baby and I have household signal coverage issues that would be solved effectively via a mesh setup.

+1 to implement a VPN Client.
in addition, please allow certain devices to bypass the VPN. If that is not possible, please allow regular and guest wifi access to have separate VPN functionality separately.
thanks

Running OpenVPN client would give you pretty slow VPN through speeds with the Orbi 750Mhz cpu, the cpu handles all the VPN encryption & decryption of your data, basically in layman's terms the faster cpu, the faster VPN through speeds youll get, openvpn is only currently able to use a signal core, the x4s has a 1.7Ghz cpu giving good vpn through speeds. So if i was you don't hold your breath or expect this to be implemented, if it does you'll simply be disapointed with the vpn through speeds.
- rwatsAspirantBought the Orbi before recognizing the need for VPN. This would be a killer feature for me. Since I am still waiting on being able to connect my Windows 10 PC to the Orbi VPN server, I suspect Netgear has minimal interest in VPN with Orbi and I don't have high hopes of seeing this anytime soon unfortunately.

Hi Jason,
So any news regarding implementing generic openvpn for us to use on our orbi wifi system ? it would help us so much to be able to just use one client on the orbi router to broadcast out either via cable or wifi to all other devices to connect to, as its quite troublesome for our elderly who are not tech savy to log on each device manually. This would great help and we will appreciate it so very much.

I too would like to see VPN client support added to the Orbi line. With the huge number of 'connected' devices today it would make managing a home VPN solution much easier.
Also, with the current political landscape, it would be one hell of a selling feature for a great product line.

Hi Netgear, when will this be implemented? I bought orbi because I thought it would have open VPN client like nighthawk. I’m asking about timeline because if this is never going to happen, I going to return then for ASUS instead. Thanks.
