NETGEAR is aware of a growing number of phone and online scams. To learn how to stay safe click here.
Because of network topology it is often not possible to protect the router(s) device from internal (to the network) hacks or security compromises.
Passwords are a good start.
What would be a great addition and probably not too much development is to implement a password failure count and after so many failures refuse attampts for 30 minutes or so.
Make it a configuration option.

Thank you for that feedback.
Will go ahead and forward that to our engineering department. - AbhayBNETGEAR Employee RetiredStatus changed:UnspecifiedtoResolved
Routers already have a failure count of 3 after which you have to either factory reset the router or use password recovery.
