PLEASE update the Genie program. It is so slow, clunky, outdated, and ugly. It's really pathetic, especially in the vain of more expensive hardware. The user experience does not match the price. It's like buying a Mercedes but the seats are made of cheap cloth. If I spend hundreds of dollars on a top of the line product, I expect the software to be excellent. Other companies have much better software. Catch up.

So, Netgear released an update to Genie. Big freakin deal. What NEW features did they add to the update?
Yeah guyguy I just downloaded the update. I read the release notes. Doesn't do much of anything. Fixes a few issues that don't sound like something most people would experience anyway. No new features, no improvements to performance, UI, etc. At least Netgear is doing SOMETHING to the program.

Agree, they are doing something to the program, SLOWLY. Thanks for the info. Lets keep this post going. However, they don't do much to the r8000. Yes, they did release a new firmware but big freakin deal. I guess they filled some security holes but no new features.
They should start from scratch and let us beta test the damned stuff!!
Netgear needs to rebuild the program. Period. It looks like it was made in the 2000's and probably was. Considering how much their routers cost, the accompanying software should be excellent. There's no excuse for bad software. It's like buying a Mercedes but the infotainment system is off an old Chevy. Doesn't work like that. They need to start implenting our feedback and make a better program.

I agree with you. However, they need to start at the router first. They need to start from scratch with the firmware and remove this nonsense OpenDNS crap. Next, add features that WE, the user, wants to see. I have said this many times, I am not a fan of OpenDNS. I have tried it and for some people it may work and they are happy with it. Personally, I don't see the point of using a 3rd party company to perform the filtering when it can be added to the router itself. Linksys and Asus don't use some other company, they have included it in the firmware.
After they come out with better firmware then they can redesign Genie to match the routers firmware. Netgear has money. They charge 300 for a router. They can do so much better with the firmware and Genie.
