New Idea
Wifi 5 Mesh systems should actually work with wifi 6e mesh systems, so we don't have more E-waste.
I run a RBK50 and RBS50 system. It's been Great for 5+ years, I forget. 2016 apparently.
Considering my options to add 6e Wifi and very sad to hear that my $600, very functional RBK ORBI wifi 5 AX system is completely obsolete.
I'd like to add 6e but none of my wifi 5 mesh components work with new 6e routers beyond a useless wired AP with separate SSIDs.
Truly making my once very expensive and currently still functioning RBK absolute E-Waste!
Why would you not integrate mesh capabilities across 5-6e mesh devices. I'd buy a 6e router and would enjoy to use the wifi 5 router and satellite as an extension. Not possible.
You have killed off my gear, created E-waste, and lost a customer.
Since the 6E still does 2.4 and 5ghz and still works on a backbone wireless connection between router and satellite, why would you not allow LOYAL customers to use their old gear as extenders.
Don't tell me Engineering is the issue... it's a pure product corporate money grab! Make'em buy another $1500 system, those suckers.
Netgear, VP of product development... you are high. You've lost me as a 20 yr customer. I basically have ZERO incentive to stay with you. You screwed everyone of your ORBI customers to an upgrade path. Blind! blind and greedy! $100 coupon... that's funny. I have $600-700 of obsolete, perfectly functioning hardware sitting in my house. You are absolutely High, if you think I'm going to give you $1500, just out of principle!

There is differences between the wifi drivers and hardware that make older systems not compatible with newer systems and newer tech. Just can't make it work as you'd think and want. It's up to user to keep using what they have or get into new stuff. This happens across all brands. Not just NG. It's not just a money grab. Unless you know how tech works, hard for you to fully understand how tech works and gets developed.
Users make the systems obsolete and thats your choice. You can still use systems from years ago if you want too...there still being used. Just can't integrate them with newer systems. Current wifi devices still support older WiFi AC tech. You just don't get to use the new tech is all until one updates to something new.
Up to you to stay or go. No loss on company's part. Your not the first to say good bye and probably won't be the last.
Good Luck though. - SprungnickelFollower
I disagree completely. Both have 6Ghz backhaul and there is no reason they could not have developed that. Built in obsolescence is the corporate motto these days, that and Subscriptions. As far as no loss on Company's part, that is a ridiculous statement. It was a clear choice.

You are incorrect about 6ghz BH. 6Ghz only comes on 9 series Orbi systems. The 50 series never had any HW support for 6Ghz. Only 5Ghz. 6ghz has only been around for past 3-4 years. 50 series was out long before anyone was thinking about 6ghz. You seem to have zero idea of what goes in to MESH systems and how wiif tech works.
Good Luck.
