Hi!

Just bought the Arlo from iNet:

https://www.inet.se/produkt/6210348/netgear-arlo-startpaket-2-kameror

Works ok, besides Geofencing. It only activates or deactivates based on my iPhone, not the other two phones I added:
1. My wife's Android phone.

2. My daughter's iPhone.

I made my wife administrator. My daughter, after inviting her and installing the App, I removed the cameras in her App, so she can't watch, only use Geofencing.

The way I want it to work:
When minimum one Smartphone is at home, Arlo should be off.
When no Smartphones are home, Arlo should be off.

In the App -> Geofencing settings -> Activated devices:
Me = In zone.
Wife = Outside zone
Daugther = In zone.

When I leave zone, Arlo activates incorrectly, eventhough daughter is in zone.

Often wife + daughter are "unavailabe" even though all location services on in their Smartphones.

It doesn't matter if wife / daugther are unavailable, in zone or outside zone. Only my iPhone it uses for activation/deactivation.

Please advice! I didn't post all firmware versions etc, maybe this is unrelated to that, it could be me doing something wrong, want to check that first. (First thing that happened when I turned the unit on was firmware update so only a week or two old firmware).

Geofencing is designed to operate on a "first in, last out basis". This means that if any device is in the Geofencing radius the "Home" mode will enable, and the "Away" mode should only enable when the last device has left the radius.

How does the first in, last out principal work with geofencing mode for my Arlo cameras?

For this to work be sure the app stays logged in, is running and location is enabled on your devices. If the app is logged off/not running Geofencing will not work.

When using multiple devices, the secondary devices should be logged into the app via shared account through the "Grant Access" feature so that both devices are logged in using the mobile app. Take a look at this article for more information: How do I add and manage multiple mobile devices for geofencing?

If you are having trouble with this, consider refreshing your enabled devices within Geofencing settings. Disable all listed devices, save and then enable the devices again.

Log in to your Arlo Account (the primary) and navigate to Mode > select your Arlo system > edit Geofencing > click "Enabled devices". Toggle all of the listed devices off and save. After you have finished saving, navigate back to "Enabled devices" and toggle all desired devices back on and save.

Hi!

Thank You for Your answer! I have been very busy, sorry for late answer. I am still having issues with Geofencing.

My mobile seems to be the only one using the feature. The other mobiles have been toggled and reconfigured, trust me, they do work correctly, e.g. I can see my daughter's mobile in Find Friends in iPhone, so her location services are correct. There popped up a question if I want to allow Arlo to use location services which I answered yes to. I removed and readded them as well.

The problem seems to be with the Arlo system, not the smartphones. May I suggest a firmware upgrade to address this, please?

The way it should work: like with Apple products, no restarts etc necessary, just real-time 100% functionality.

Besides from this glitch, I think Arlo is a fantastic product. Too bad geofencing is problematic; not ruling out I might be the culprit here, but I believe I've tested just about all there is, after all I am a Systems Engineer by profession.

Cheers 🙂
