DHCP server of WC7600 introducing a guest wifi subnet

Hi!

We use a wifi-Controller WC7600v2 for our Wifi-APs.

For connecting wireless devices to our internal network, we use VLAN 1 and ip subnet 10.64.39.0. IP addresses are assigned by the DHCP server of our windows DC.

For connecting wireless devices to the guest internet, we use VLAN 2 and ip subnet 10.64.38.0. IP addresses are assigned by the the internal DHCP server of the WC7600.

Different wifi profiles are set up, VLAN 1 for internal SSID, VLAN 2 for guest SSID.

Attached are the settings of IP and DHCP of the WC7600.

I encounter two errors:

- When i want to change IP settings, i get the showed error.

- And sometimes, when i want to connect to the internal wifi SSID, i get IP addresses in subnet 10.64.38.0.

I tried several DHCP settings, but only with IP net 10.64.36.0 and mask 255.255.252.0 i could set it up.

What is set up wrong?

Welcome to Netgear Community 

1. Already you have configured controller IP/VLAN settings as

IP Address 10.64.39.50
Mask 255.255.254.0 = 23
Management VLAN = 1

which includes HostMin 10.64.38.1 to HostMax 10.64.39.254 for VLAN 1.

2. After that you are trying to configure DHCP server 10.64.38.0 for VLAN 2, controller is throwing error as because you are trying to configure 2 different VLAN for the same subnet.

3. To avoid above error and to solve your issue, you can follow the below configuration,

Controller IP/VLAN settings,

=====================

IP address = 10.64.39.50
Mask 255.255.255.0 = 24
Management VLAN = 1

DHCP server

==========

VLAN = 2
IP network = 10.64.38.0
Mask = 255.255.255.0
Default Gatwway = 10.64.38.1 or 10.64.38.254.
Start IP = 10.64.38.100
End IP = 10.64.38.200

Hi Janrot,

Welcome to our community!

As per checking on the screenshots that you have that the IP of the controller is not on the same subnet with the DHCP server. The DHCP server of the controller can only handle 1 subnet and it should include the IP of the controller itself. Wireless controller doesn't have routing, if you wanted to have a different subnet it should be assigned to your windows dhcp server and not in the wireless controller.
