Netgear R6700AX to Netgear Access Point WAX206

I was trying to read the installation instructions for this set up and I'm a bit lost. The way I had it explained to me is all I had to do was set up the router and plug in a cable from the R6700AX to an access point and set up the wireless for my room. I was recommended the access point I listed above.

Can anyone tell me if what I had explained to me is correct or is there a part of the online instruction manual I didn't see?
