AC1750 Smart WiFi Router

Does this boost WiFi speed or just extend the coverage? I don't see a difference between my old router and this one. Also does the gigabyte work only when connected via cable I don't really know much about it

    Hello bpri

The AC1750 refers to the wireless speed of the 2.4 and 5ghz bands. And it might not be better coverage than your old router just depends on the space it needs to cover. And yes the gigabyte is referring to the the ethernet connection.

  • I received the router but and just don't see what's the difference at all I guess the 600+ Mbps have to be bought either way if you have the money to have with your Internet service provider while 20 Mbps is enough to be paying for let alone 600. I also didn't see a respectable wider range with it. I just don't get what I am paying for I also tried the wired gigabyte connection and it actually made the download speed slower. I am very disappointed to tell the truth
    • While your new router may not provide any noticeable difference with Internet access, it can significantly boost speeds between devices within your home. If you transfer a lot files between computers (you are backing up your data, aren't you?) or stream videos from a PC to a TV, then a router such as this one can make it possible to do these wirelessly. Keep in mind that every Wi-Fi connection is a two-way street, so your devices must also support the higher speeds offered by the router.

On the other hand, if most of your usage involves accessing the Internet, then any basic router can handle a 20 Mbps Internet connection. An AC1750 router could very well be overkill for the task.
