C6250 download stuck on solid amber and the side buttons on my router don’t work

I’ve had this router for around 9 months now and ever since buying it the side buttons to turn the WiFi on and off or disable the password thing haven’t worked, I’ve tried calling support but they just hung up on me after 3 minutes or so, but no matter where I look I can’t find a solution, also the download speeds have been at a max of 30mbps and the amber light is stuck on. I’ve rebooted and hard reset my router time and time again but nothing has fixed either of these problems. I looked around and I haven’t seen any posts with anything similar so if anyone can help me I’d appreciate it greatly.

Prob 1: amber light
- amber light has been stuck on download speed since purchase 9 months ago, haven’t thought much of it. Noticed speeds were much slower than anticipated, ran a speed test and was only getting at most 40 mbps down and 10 up (the 10 up is fine). I’ve hard reset it; nothing, rebooted it; nothing. I don’t have any idea what’s happening

Prob 2: side buttons don’t work
- the router has 2 buttons on the sides, the purpose of them I have no ideas cause they’ve never worked, I’ve only ever seen the lights work on them once and that was then I was setting it up. Tried to look up a solution to it and nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Which amber light? The downstream one? Upstream one?

That is down to your internet connection. The modem/router is just telling you what is happening.

What speed are you paying for? And don't expect wifi speeds to be as fast as wired speeds.

You may need to talk to your Internet service provider

The manual explains what they are for.

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Check the sections in the manual:

Front Panel and Right Side Panel

Troubleshoot With the LEDs.

You might also like to read the section Manage WPS Settings. That explains how to control the other "magic button" on the side.

For help with the modem bit, try the appropriate section for the C6250.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Cable Modems & Routers

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

Do you have a screen snip of thee cable connections page and the event logs?

Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
If you can, simply connect the modem right where the coax comes into the home. This prevents wiring in the home from being the issue. And some ISP’s charge if the wiring issue is in the home. So this helps prevent this.
