C7000 Default bot file with Xfinity gigabit
Hello,
I just upgraded to Xfinity gigabit service, I know the C7000 isn't recommended, but they (Comcast) told me they can't change my C7000 boot file (which is capping me at 200Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload and I've had way fawter before). Comcast told me only Neatgear could change the boot file for me - is this correct?
Anyone have any experience with this? Can I do it?
Sincerely,
Robert

Re: C7000 Default bot file with Xfinity gigabit
The ISP should be able to do that or have access to that. Users don't have any way to update or change FW or configuration files on cable modems. All cable modem FW is pushed and updated by cable ISPs.
Try contacting NG support to see if there is anything they can help with.

Re: C7000 Default bot file with Xfinity gigabit
NTGR or any Modem vendor cannot change the bootfile.
the problem here is you purchased much higher Service tier and that service is not supported by C7000. This causes Comcast to send much lower boot file as per their system. you can probably try asking if they can send 500 or 600 Mbps boot file.
two options:
1. downgrade to smaller tier and get that boot file (use only service tier available for the device as per this website https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices/ )
2. upgrade to D3.1 device which is gigabit capable.
