CM2000 DOCSIS compatibility

I currently have a CM1000 which is Docsis 3.0 and 3.1 compatible. I've been having issues with my internet and my provider said for some reason it connects to the 3.1 hub and speeds are fine but then randomly switches to the 3.0 hub and our speeds plummet. So he recommended I get a 3.1 only router. I was looking at the CM2000 but can't find information regarding if its a 3.1 only router or has that 3.0 compatibility. Any help would be appreciated.

  • By specification, DOSCIS 3.1 is backward compatible with DOSCIS 3.0.  No such thing as a DOSCIS 3.1 only modem.

I think your provider was feeding you a line.

You are mixed up with your terminology.  Both the CM1000 and the CM2000 devices are cable modems only.  They have no capability to function as a router.  You would need to connect a router downstream of either modem.

Yeah that was the conclusion I was coming to after reading more online regarding 3.0 and 3.1.

And yes I know the difference between a router and modem. There was no drop down tab available for "modems" just routers

I see I wrote router in my initial post. Yes this is all regarding my modem.
