CM400 does not accept serial number

CM400 has been working for over a year. Today I had to disconnect it to move and reconnect. It will not accept my admin password (possibly i forgot). But the reset option asks for serial number; I gave the number on the modem, but it says not the correct serial number. Doublechecked it.  Any ideas?

Is there a reset button on the modem some place?

good thought; there is a small hole. I pushed a pin in - felt like a reset button. But it still didnt work; i tried the default userid and password that came witht he unit - assume as any: admin and password

How long have you had the modem? 

Possible the modem is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Ok, seems odd behavior though for such a new modem...
