Cable Router Question

Cable Router Question

Looking to purchase 300Gbps service from Spectrum, which is the fastest internet service offered in our development. We require both WIFI and four LAN outputs off of the cable router. For these reasons we were looking at the C6300 and C7000 Netgear models.

Questions:

  1. Is there any benefit of one model over the other, or is there a better model for our application?
  2. Does either model have a higher powered wifi transmitter and more sensitive receiver than the other? We have experienced signal strength problems in the past in our home with Netgear units. Netgear doesn't appear to disclose their transmit power and receiver sensitivity. AND yes, we also use range extenders.

THANKS in advance!

Re: Cable Router Question

Hello gordier

There is a couple of diffrences as the C7000 is a AC1900 compared to the C6300 which is AC1750 so faster wifi there is also some more feature such as beam forming on the C7000. You could also look into getting the CM700 or CM600 and buying a separate router.

Re: Cable Router Question

Hi DarrenM,

Thanks for your informative response!

Would you know if one unit has a stronger WiFi transmitter and more sensitive WiFi receiver than the other, or are they all the same?

Re: Cable Router Question

Would really like someone to confirm my following conclusion from the Netgear website and the previous response:

  • All the Netgear cable wifi routers have the same wifi transmit power output and receiver sensitivity.
  • Differentiation is in features such as bandwidth.
  • For a larger residence, the best strategy is to buy the least expensive unit that meets bandwidth requirements e.g. 300Mbps, and then use range extenders as needed to provide uniform coverage.

Am I missing anything?

THANKS in advance!

Re: Cable Router Question

Hello gordier

The cable modems may not have all the same hardware specs so not exactly. Yes they each have some differences. As for large homes you can use extenders or you can go with a cable modem only and look to buy our Orbi router which will give you a large uniform wifi coverage in your home.
