Unable to update cable modem firmware
I purchased the AC1900 C7000v2 cable modem for use with Spectrum Internet a few years back. Everything has worked fine until a few days ago. My instincts told me to update the firmware (currently V1.02.09).
As the Netgear Genie (internet portal) listed nowhere to update the firmware, my investigation lead me to download and install the iOS app and waste time setting up an account. After installing the iOS app I was excited to see the app confirm that the firmware was out of date... but gives absolutely no way to download and push it to the modem. I was frustrated and annoyed to discover that other uses have had the exact same experience with Netgear offering no specific solutions - especially for this model.
Last resort: I called Spectrum who informed me that as the modem "was not theirs" the weren't able to push the new firmware (V1.03.01) to my modem.
What I have come away with:
I've wasted more than a few hours looking for alternative ways to udate the firmware.
The Nighthawk App is worthless and will be removed from my phone.
Netgear NEED to make firmware upgrades available through the modem itself as well as being able to download it to the computer and push it to the modem.
I used to love Netgear and, until recently, have never had a problem. But I won't be recommending Netgear anytime soon to my clients.
What an utter waste of time. This product wasn't cheap.

Cable modem routers aren't user updatable. Its part of the docsis spec.
The isp gets supplied the firmware but its up to them to certify it and push it out.
You can compare you're current version to what the isp supports.
Or you could go more into details on the actual issue you're having (not updating firmware) and we can see if we can help you.
Thank you. You've actually updated me with more infor in 2 minutes than Spectrum or I was able to find in 3 hours. Surpised to see that Spectrum isn't supporting the latest firmware version.

Other than firmware, what actual issue were you running into?
Alot of things can be helped/fixed with optimizing the connection or changing some settings.
