compatability with viasat isp
Hello, My isp is a company called VIASAT out of Carlsbad, Ca.
The viasat modem is junk.
I cannot get a straight answer from Viasat ISP as to whether
the Netgear coax cable, can replace the Viasat coax modem.
My 'hot-spot' provider is Verizon.
I bought a Netgear MiFi device for the Verizon connection.
THEN, Verizon said they did not support netgear MiFi.
Then, I had to buy an inferior MiFi from Verizon.
How can I find out, now, for the Coax-router and before I
would buy a device like Netgear MiFi, whether an ISP
supports a netgear product, ?
How do I tell Viasat how to 'set up' the new netgear router
to replace the Viasat router, please ?
Thank you.

Re: compatability with viasat isp
Cable modems or Coax modems are only meant for cable modem ISPs. SAT ISPs usually use different modems for there services. Usually specific modems or gatways that are tied to there systems. The ISP should and do have this information on what they use and what IS required for there services.

Re: compatability with viasat isp
Sir,
Thank you for responding.
ViaSat's Should(s) and could(s) have turned out to be different things 😞
They don't have a clue from their remote tech support.
A human-being-in-home-service tech did not have a clue.
Verizon for netgear MiFi, told me right away, when I gave them the serial
number of Netgear, that netgear was incompatible.
What serial number can I give Viasat to check against their support list ?
Thanks,

Re: compatability with viasat isp
We don't have that information.
Verizon is a Fiber/ONT based ISP thus again, Cable modems will not work.
You'll need to refer to the ISP for help and information on what there services required. Its there Service. Again, maybe ISP specific and will have to use there equipment. Ask for escalated support or a technician who should know this. Maybe there installer would be able to help.
Good Luck.
