couple of issues and a question
Hello everyone,
Just a heads up, not extremely tech savvy. So I ditched my Xfinity cable modem for the Nighthawk CM1150V which was recommended by a Best Buy Chat expert. I specifically asked if this was a modem/router combo and he said yes. Well guess what when it arrived and 59 minutes later talking with Xfinity I find out it is not a router. So in a hurry I go to wallyworld and buy a linksys D600 wifi router and hook it up to the modem and success!! I have wifi. Issue 1: I cannot hook up my wifi IP camera 2.4G, to check on our puppy because the modem is 5G and I beleive possibly 2.4G but I cannot access the 2.4G. Need help here. I do have a Dlink DIR601 wifi router which I was thinking I could hook up to the modem and since this is an old router I should be able to get 2.4G, but this didnt work either. Issue 2: I added IPVanish for streaming and eliminate buffering to my firesticks. We had 300mbps service and checked the wifi speed with laptop within 6 feet of router and was getting 95mbps download speed. Just last night added to 600mbps as we still had some buffering and with my tablet approximately 40 feet away from the wifi router was getting 43mbps. Any help is very much appreciated.

Well guess what when it arrived and 59 minutes later talking with Xfinity I find out it is not a router. You bought a linksys router, not netgear. Need help here. I do have a Dlink DIR601 wifi router which I was thinking I could hook up to the modem and since this is an old router I should be able to get 2.4G, but this didnt work either. I'm not sure what we can do for you. The CM1150V is a modem/voice device. It has no routing capability, wifi, etc. It simply provides a public ip address to the Linksys router you bought. Have you contacted linksys?
