Atrocious packetloss on CAX30

i'm having terrible packetloss on ALL devices. restarted modem, factory reset modem and still nothing. has been like that for a week. isp was useless saying it is my fault but the modem is ok.

I unplugged everything from the modem besides my computer and nothing changed. My speed tests should be gigabit but are abominable even though actually downloading stuff seems fine. Screenshot_18.jpgScreenshot_19.jpgScreenshot_20.jpgScreenshot_21.jpg

Re: Atrocious packetloss on CAX30

Your power levels are out of spec and you have a ton of errors.

Remove any splitters, amplifiers, or signal attenuators from your line.

Check your line for cheap cables, extended runs, bad/old/cheap/corroded ends and replace them.

Preferrably move the CAX to right where the coax comes into the home and direct connect there.

If that doesn't help, the ISp will need to check the line

Ok but last thing i want to add if it means anything, that Acquire Downstream Channel number was different before the factory reset.

the frequencies used can change. That's sometimes where we run into issues because there will be line issues but when a user opens the "cable connections page" it might be on a good chuck of bandwidth and not look bad. But you open the logs and you see issues. You've got them on the cable connections page already.

Re: Atrocious packetloss on CAX30

ok so the guy came and the person who set my internet up previously(contracter, not employee) screwed up and BENT the coaxial cable coming to my house and it was the reason. HOWEVER he stilll sees issues w/ noise and another guy is coming out. hopefully they don't need to tear up the ground to fix it. And i am seeing dips still as well.

However i just wanted to ask one more question since it seems to be fixed most of all.

In ping plotter i have seen like 50% packetloss but to the MODEM itself. does that mean the modem could be defective? It isn't like this all the time but still the modem is a 5 feet away from me.

right now i opened the modem page and it hit like 7% and it keeps going up. 12% right now. is this a glitch or what?

I haven't paid attention and know if it is just me accessing the modem page or it gets worse when i access the modem page.Screenshot_31.jpg

Re: Atrocious packetloss on CAX30

I know your initial post didn't have any packet loss. Anything change since the inital post?

Are you on wifi?

Hardwired?

Different device?

Re: Atrocious packetloss on CAX30

nothing besides factory reseting it like twice and changing different outlets.

always on ethernet and same pc.

it seems to very slowly creep up by like .4% each time.

Re: Atrocious packetloss on CAX30

I'm not sure what to tell you.

Its tough when you're only testing on one device to determine if its a router issue or that specific device issue

Don't know the relation between a traceroute to an overseas site, and where you suspect terrible packet loss. Here an ad-hoc check originating from Switzerland  - where two hops seem to add latency (from Paris to Virginia US, addign about 80 ms total ~100 ms) and then through the US (from Virginia to LA, adding about 50 ms, total  ~150 ms) and last but not least from California to Japan (LA to Tokyo, plus 100 ms or more, total ~250 ms):

Friendly reminder: ISP and carrirer backhaul routers have more important jobs to do than handle IGMP.

There might be something wrong. But then, the ISP says the modem is OK ... and that's the CAX30, isn't it?

Probably Gigabit on the downstream, indeed one could expect higher numbers.

The amount of correctable, and much more the uncorrectables on the RF link (the cable modem part) are just ridiculous.
