C3000-100NAS Readyshare won't recognize USB Disk
C3000-100NAS (cannot enter anything in the "model" box) is not recognizing USB drive unit, It did work with old USB 2.0 PATA unit, but not with new USB 3.0 SATA unit. Using a USB 3.0 cable, as that is all the new unit will take. Drive is a WD10000FBYS 1 TB Enterprise Drive - but Seagate ST1000DM010 1TB fails too. I tried power cycling the drive enclosure, the modem,and the PC, separately, but nothing seems to get the modem to acknowledge the drive and get rid of the "No USB Drive" message. Anybody know how to make this work? And, I have had the same result with these SATA 2 & SATA 3 drives in a Rosewill enclosure and in a LaCie (owned by Seagate) enclosure.
Solved one problem - only to discover another. Connecting it to the PC, I re-partioned the drive into one big Basic NTFS volume, put in a file so it wouldn't be empty, and then back on the router, and the router started recognizing that it was there. However, I couldn't map it as a network drive, as I had the old unit. Hmm - Windows upgrades ... I had recently moved to Win 10 Pro version 1903, without realizing that it turns off SMB ver1 in favor of SMB ver 3 - and this old model's Readyshare runs on SMB version 1. Since the reason Microsoft made this change is for security (like blocking the "wannacry" ransomeware), I'm hesitant to turn version 1 back on (in Windows Features). Unfortunately, I don't see upgraded firmware for this in the Downloads section. Anybody know anything about Netgear releasing upgraded firmware?

did you check the usb compatability list? There aren't many that work with the C3000 and non work if they're formated with a gpt parition.

No - but the list is short (compared to the market), and also says that many other drives will work as well. Actually, it's the USB electronics in the housing that has the USB interface ans talks to the modem. Is the modem looking for something that a standard USB interface doesn't supply? The disks are formatted Basic, NTFS, and both work when I move one end of the USB cable from the back of the modem to a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on my PC - and that was true for both housings.
