C3700 N600 Speed issue

Spectrum upgraded our area for 200 mbps.  However I checked the speed with an ethernet cable and it was only 100 (my pc has gigabit ethernet).  I contacted spectrum and they said their info says my equipment is only good to 100.  However if you look at the netgear specs it 300,  What gives?

I got impatient waiting on an answer so I went ahead and bought the nighthawk router modem combo.  So far so good.  Getting 1 Gbps LAN and 300 mbps Wifi.  Crazy fast. Not sure I believe it.  I didn't get a chance to try your solution but thanks for replying.  Maybe it can help others.

Power OFF the modem for 1 minute. Then back on. Reboot your PC while the modem reboots to ready. Check speeds.

I had the C3700 N600 but was having the issues previously stated so I bought the newer AC1900 and it works like a charm.  I'll mark the post as solved but I never actually tried your solution on the C3700 because it was already disconnected when I got your message.  Thanks though.
